Horse riding tour Bishkek – Son Kul Lake


Places to visit: Bishkek, Song-Kul lake, Tash Rabat, Arpa Valley, Karashoro National park, and  Osh


Day 1: Bishkek
Arrival to Bishkek, transfer to the hotel. After some rest Sightseeing tour: Oak Park, Ala -Too Square, Philarmonic hall, Statue of Manas, Victory Square and Oriental market – Osh bazaar and Historical Muesum. Overnight in the hotel.

Day 2: Bishkek – Son Kul Lake (380 km)

In the morning transfer to the second largest lake in Kyrgyzstan – Son Kul Lake. On arrival to Kochkor you will visit a felt carpet workshop where you can watch a process of making Kyrgyz national felt carpets and souvenirs and even take a part in making carpets if you wish.  Son Kul Lake situated at a height of 3013 meters above sea level and surrounded by beautiful mountains. It is a great place where you can experience a nomadic life style and relax from busy city life. On arrival, you will be free to explore and enjoy the virgin nature of the lake and its surroundings. You will have dinner and overnight in Kyrgyz yurts. It is made of a wooden skeleton, covered with felt coverings. Yurts are built without nails.

Day 3: Son Kul Lake – Tash Rabat Caravanserai (280 km)
After breakfast transfer to the Tash Rabat – Caravanserai on the Great Silk Road (Stone Castle from the 14th century). Tash Rabat is located at the very heart of Tian Shan Mountains. And it has no analogue in the whole world, because it was made of stones and furthermore it was built inside a mountain at a height 3200 m above sea level. It is remains of one of the cities on the Great Silk Road and this building had been used as hotel and shelter for travelers. In total there are 31 rooms in the mountain. The thickness of walls is 1 m. There are also underground prison cells of ancient thieves. Dinner and overnight in yurts near by the Tash Rabat caravanserai.

Day 4: Tash-Rabat – Ak -Beit  

Meet your horse riding team. Start the horse ride from Tashrabat to beginning of Arpa Valley to the Border zone. Dinner and overnight at the tent camp. Riding time 4-5 h.

Day 5   Ak –Beit – Arpa Valley

Riding along the Arpa Valley to the south –west of the camp about 25 km. Lunch. This day you will cross the Plato of Arpa valley (the scenery more similar to the Mongolian steps) toward to the high Mountains. Overnight and dinner in the tents in middle of Arpa valley (3000 m). Riding time 6-7 h.

Day 6   Arpa Valley – Khulja-Jaiyk

This day you will riding from Arpa valley to Khulja-Jaiyk summer pasture about 20-25 km.  The high mountains with white peaks and glacier will follow you all the way. The mountains is the Natural border line with the China. The region is the home place for Marco Polo sheep. Overnight and dinner in the tent camp.  (3200 m). Riding time 6-7 h.

Day 7   Khulja-Jaiyk – Echki Tal

All day riding to the west toward to Echki tall summer pasture. On the way cross the river Karakol. The steep rocky mountains are the home place for the Ibex. Overnight and dinner in the tent camp.  (2800 m). Riding time 5-6 h.

Day 8   Echki Tal – Agatan

Breakfast. Horseback riding over the High Shylbuluu Pass 3860 m. a. s. l.  The view to the Fergana Valley will opens you from the pass. Descend to the Agatan jailoo the hills of summer pasture full of the wiled onion.  Overnight and dinner in the tent camp.  (2500 m). Riding time 5-6 h.

Day 9   Agatan –Karashoro -Osh

Breakfast. Riding trail will bring you to the Kara-Shoroo National Park (12 km). End of the trek at the Karashoro mineral springs. Meet with the driver and transfer by car to Osh (2 hours) the second biggest city in Kyrgyzstan. It is said that the city is older than Rome because it is more than 3000 years old. On the way visiting a market and mausoleum in Uzgen. Uzgen was one of the capitals of the Karakhanid State in the 11th and 12th centuries.

City tour of Osh. As legends say Osh was founded by King Solomon ages ago and had an important position on trading routes of the Great Silk Road. Today you will visit Suleiman-Too (Solomon’s Mountain), museum, Osh Bazaar – this market locates at the same place as in the times of Great Silk Road. Overnight in a guest house.

Day 10: Osh – departure
After breakfast transfer to the airport. Fly home with TK
